The magician shows the audience his prediction-a card sealed in an envelope sitting loosely inside of his wallet. The envelope is placed on the table and the spectator is handed a deck of cards. The magician asks her to mentally spell the name of a close friend or family member, dealing one card from the top of the deck for each letter. The spectator does so and the last card she deals, for example the Jack of Clubs, is set aside as her selection. The magicians prediction, in full view since before the trick even started, is then opened and its also the Jack of Clubs! Now the kicker-the magician spreads the rest of the deck face up and every single card is totally blank! Not only was the spectators card the only Jack of Clubs in the deck; it was the only card in the deck! Both cards and the blank deck may be examined. The spectator only thinks of someones name.
