Several spectators are each given a small number of cards from a borrowed, shuffled deck (or they can remove the cards themselves from the deck) with the request that they each merely think of one of the cards in their hand. They are then asked to mix of their cards and return them to the performer, who then further mixes them behind his back. At this point, no one knows the position of their thought of cards--neither the spectators nor the performer. Now each spectator is shown a small fan of cards and asked if they see their mentally selected card. If so, a card is removed from the packet (from behind the back of the performer) and placed in front of the spactator. One at a time, the spectators name their cards. One at a time, the cards are turned face-up and revealed to be the selected cards. This is a classic mental card effect that can be done with any cards, anytime, anywhere, with no preparation of any kind.
