A person is asked to participate in an experiment of precognition. Explaining that because you're feeling a bit lazy today, you are going to rely on the psychic abilities of your volunteer to successfully predict what he himself will do in just a few minutes. Five sealed envelopes are displayed and handed to him. As you explain that sealed in each envelope is a playing card, you ask that he mix up the envelopes so that no one could know which is which. He is then instructed to lay the envelopes in the middle of the table, making sure that each is fully visible. Next a deck of cards is fanned, showing them to be all different. They are spread face-down on the table and the spectator told to push ANY card forward. The spectator also chooses ANY envelope from the table. You know what's coming...the rest of the envelopes are opened showing four indifferent cards. The fifth card is displayed, the chosen card on the table turned over, and yes--they match. This is a masterful effect that is in the miracle class. You'll make yourself a reputation with Bruce Bernstein's Lazy Man's Prediction.
