A Norman Rockwell classic. It's a limited edition Rockwell plate entitled "The Shadow Artist" and it is the 1987 issue of the Heritage Series. Eleventh issue in the series. Approved by the Norman Rockwell Family Trust and crafted by Knowles China in a limited edition permanently closed in 1987. More than simply a portrait of family fun; it is a reminder of the love and sharing that can span the generations and how shadowgraphy (an art closely associated with magic) was a form of entertainment in simpler times. Painted in 1922, the original artwork for 'The Shadow Artist' was remarkable for its time. America was enjoying the roaring twenties; jazz bands blared in the speakeasies; and flappers... danced the Charleston. In the prevailing mood of confidence and prosperity, the voice of old, traditional values often went unheard. Numbered and signed. It's 8 1/2" wide and in excellent condition.
