The magician shows the audience a small plate with both a penny and a dime. A coin is chosen and one placed on the plate. He then introduces a solid transparent glass and places it mouth downwards over the coin on the plate. Now with the other coin he starts to tap the bottom of the glass and suddenly, the audience will see the coin "penetrate" the bottom of the glass and drop near the coin on the plate. For my money, this is one of the best little close-up tricks to come out in the last fifty years! It is an absolutely WONDERFUL effect...easy to do, but amazingly visual!
