This beautiful book relates the story of these amazing automata window displays that were produced in extremely limited quantities for jewelry and optical stores from 1937-1957. Lavishly illustrated with excellent color photos and a few black/white archival photos, the themes of these displays range from deep sea divers to outer space, fairy tale figures to cave men with dinosaurs ("The World's First Jeweler"), Indians, bicycles, trolley cars and a swing band with bugs as the musicians. There seems to be a theme related to almost every collecting area including black memorabilia, barberiana, music, fairs, transportation, etc. Also includes a chronological listing of displays, color & black/white photos, NO INDEX, values not included. c.2001, 127p, 9x11, hardbound with dustjacket, color & black/white photos, Zon International, NM.
