In this very clever Spiritualistic Cabinet Act, the usual so-called manifestations take place while the medium (performer) is securely tied and fastened in a manner that positively precludes any possibility of his being able to produce them. A committee (not plants or stooges) from the audience does all the tying, sealing, etc., and at all times the cabinet is watched by members of the committee. The act can be produced any place where a cabinet can be erected. We prevailed upon Gus to release to the magic fraternity the entire act as he did it. The “Spirit Post” is as illustrated and can be rigidly examined. Strips of cloth material are used for the tying. The arms, the wrists and the neck are tied, all of them, to the spirit post after being passed through metal rings and holes in the post. To prove that there is no slipping of the ties on the wrists, arms and neck the knots may be sewn through with needle and thread to, surgical adhesive tape may be fastened to the tie and around the bare wrists right into the flesh. The illustration shows the performer seated and tied to the post. The cabinet is moved forward and the front curtains closed. Instantly the manifestations commence...bells ring, tambourines jingle, etc. The front curtain is opened as a bell comes sailing through the air. All the ties are re-checked and found to be perfect. Different so-called spiritualistic effects are produced and no matter how quickly the cabinet is opened, there sits the performer securely tied. At one time a ring disappears from the performer’s hand and appears in his ear. The action is so fast, the tying so perfect, even magicians could not believe it when they saw it. For the last effect, a knife is placed between the performer’s teeth. The curtains are closed and in just a matter of seconds the performer walks out of the cabinet free!
