A card is selected and retained by the spectator. After a failed attempt at mind reading, the performer relates the story about the incredible Professor Q, who was the world's greatest mind reader, until he met an untimely death in a washing accident. Luckily, he has come into possession of the Professor's pen, which is said to have mysterious powers of its own. After showing a handsome black pen with gold trim, a window appears in the barrel of the pen. There is a message that reads Concentrate on your card. They do. The magician clicks the top of the pen and the messages changes and reads, “It is a red card”. The spectator says his card is black. Another click and the message changes to read, “No, it was a black card”. The Professor is back on track. Another click reveals the message, “It is a high card”...and they confirm this. One more click and it says, “It is a club”...(also true). The final click reads, “It is the Ten of Clubs!”, and so it is.
