How is it possible? You show two sticks with cords running through the tops. Each cord has a tassel. When one is pulled down, the other goes up, and vice versa. You pull them back and forth, and everybody thinks that the two sticks are connected with a single long cord--but not at all. You separate the sticks, proving that each cord is independent. Still, when one is pulled down, the other rises. Even when the sticks are held far apart, it still works. The Chinese Sticks offer fun and mystery, for a very reasonable price.
