Six cards are placed in a row, face down on the table. A spectator throws a die several times and stops when he is satisfied with the number. The die is then placed on top of any of the six cards. The other five cards removed, the spectator is asked to add the top and bottom numbers on the die, and then divide by two. The resulting number will be the value of the card. Hold on…this can’t be right as the number is 3 ½! The flustered magician asks the spectator to turn over the selected card, and to everyone’s amazement, it’s the three and a half of clubs!
