Even Harry Lorayne admits that this trick is "an absolute fooler." Spectator selects a claim check (the kind you get when you check your coat), and magician staples it to a selected playing card. The check is destroyed, except for the receipt portion, which the spectator holds. But at the magicians command, one card in the deck is seen to have a check still stapled to it--that card is the selection, and the check, despite being previously destroyed, is matches the stub in their hand. A double whammy!
